At Roberta’s House, we recognize that healing happens within the community, and many people struggle to know the right things to say and do in the wake of a difficult event. Bereavement Ministry Training
Roberta’s House trains clergy, chaplains, and pastoral counselors at hospitals, hospices, congregations, and seminaries on how to talk with patients who are dying and families who are grieving. We offer clergy and seminary students a unique interactive opportunity to learn from our grief experts and alumni.
Roberta’s House Bereavement Ministry Training provides clergy, chaplains, and pastoral counselors with education on the natural grief process and the support grieving families and congregants need and hope to receive. This comprehensive two-day training is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively support those experiencing loss.
Crisis Response Team
The death of a colleague, a traumatic event at a school, neighborhood violence, and other critical incidents can shatter one’s sense of safety and stability, creating reverberating impacts within an organization or community. A death in the workplace or school setting can profoundly affect an organization’s staff and community. Daily reminders of the deceased may trigger a myriad of thoughts and emotions, making it difficult for coworkers or classmates to concentrate. This can lead to drops in performance and attendance. In such situations, a forum for the expression of shared grief will be needed to support those affected.
Roberta’s House crisis recovery services are a valuable tool for navigating the distress that can follow a sudden loss or traumatic event. Empowered with the right tools and information, organizations and individuals can build the capacity to respond empathetically to the presence of grief. Our crisis recovery services include:
- A clinical assessment of your organization’s support needs.
- On-sight grief support in the early days following a death
- Coaching for leadership on trauma and grief reactions, along with supportive strategies.
- Small group and/or individual support sessions, providing opportunities to express feelings, explore reactions and coping strategies, and obtain information to aid in healing.
