About
RESTORING HOPE
At Roberta’s House, we believe every individual has the capability of healing and positive memories can become the motivation to live fully and purposefully. With the support of the volunteers, along with a staff of professionals, the children/families and adults can receive the help they need to look to the future with confidence and hopeful anticipation of developing quality relationships.
“When my mother died. I was angry. I had trouble in school. I got into a lot of fights. My grades dropped, I just didn’t care – I didn’t want to be there any more. My grandmother sent me to Roberta’s House and there were kids just like me with the same problems. We talked about what we were going through. They understood me and I made friends. I’m not fighting any more and my grades went up, I’m not failing. For me, Roberta’s House is like family.”

GROWTH AND EXPANSION
Roberta’s House has over 700 trained volunteers and a growing staff of professionals to carry out the grief center’s mission. The Board of Directors, along with the help from Maryland Legislative leaders, foundations and the community, spearheaded a capital campaign to generate 12 million dollars for the construction of its new build. The building was completed in January 2021. This 22,000 square foot state of the art grief center is the first of its kind in the nation. The center includes art activity rooms, library resource center, multi-purpose room, theatre, fitness room, game room, expression room, conference rooms, family counseling rooms, and administrative offices. The grief center currently serves an average of 2000 families through its 13 grief support programs annually. The center is built on the landmark of row homes at 928 E. North Avenue, where March Funeral Home was originally founded in 1957.
