Homicide Survivors Advocacy Program
The Homicide Survivor Advocacy Program provides immediate support to adults, children, and families who are dealing with the aftermath of losing a loved one to homicide.
Within 24-48 hours of being notified, survivor advocates connect with the next of kin or family, offering assistance in navigating the upcoming steps and ensuring access to vital resources.
Within the Homicide Survivors Advocacy Program, there are two key initiatives: Rays of Hope and the Homicide Transformation Project.
The Homicide Transformation Project is a 10-week program facilitated by professionals. It offers peer support groups tailored to meet the specific needs of homicide survivors. Through a comprehensive bereavement program, participants are guided through their grief journey, addressing various aspects of coping and healing.
Rays of Hope is a family peer support group sponsored by the Homicide Survivors Advocacy Program, designed specifically for families with children aged 2 to 17 who have tragically lost a loved one to homicide.
These support groups, available year-round, are held in Baltimore City and Prince George’s County, providing a vital community for families navigating the difficult aftermath of such a loss.
